One eSIM for the Balkans: Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, one plan or three?

Dubrovnik to Kotor, a ferry from Corfu to Saranda, then Tirana and Ohrid. A Balkans trip crosses borders quickly, and not every country on the way is on a Europe eSIM.

What does one eSIM for the Balkans cost?

Our plans for 30 days, in US dollars:

Plan5GB10GB
BalkansUS$24.60US$45.30
EuropeUS$7.90US$14.10
Croatia onlyUS$7.10US$11.20
Montenegro onlyUS$9.70US$16.10
Albania onlyUS$10.50US$17.40
Serbia onlyUS$10.20US$16.90

The Balkans plan covers 7 countries (Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, Greece and North Macedonia) but not Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Slovenia or Romania. The Europe row is our lowest priced Europe list, which covers Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Romania, but not Montenegro, Albania, Serbia or North Macedonia. RoamMore wrote this page and sells these plans; every price comes from our live catalogue and changes when it does.

How a regional eSIM works in the Balkans

A regional eSIM is one eSIM with agreements across several countries. When you cross a border, your phone drops the last network and joins a partner network in the new country. There is nothing to buy at the border and no second QR code to scan.

The RoamMore Balkans eSIM starts from US$7 (updated 30 Oct 2026). In Montenegro it uses Telenor, m:tel CG or T-Mobile (5G), in Albania One Albania (5G) or Vodafone (4G), in North Macedonia Telekom.mk (5G) or vip (4G), and in Serbia VIP, Telenor or mts (4G). The full list, with the network in each country, is on our Balkans eSIM page, and each Europe list is on our Europe eSIM page.

One regional plan or one per country?

On our current prices, the Balkans plan costs more than country plans for the same total data. A 5GB Croatia plan at US$7.10 and a 5GB Montenegro plan at US$9.70 cost far less together than one 10GB Balkans plan at US$45.30. If your route stays in Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria, one Europe plan costs far less than the Balkans plan, and it covers Slovenia and Romania too. What the Balkans plan buys you is one install, one balance and no switching on a route through several of Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia, where no Europe plan reaches Montenegro or Albania.

Live country prices: Croatia from US$3.30, Greece from US$3.30, Montenegro from US$4.10, Albania from US$4, Serbia from US$3.90, North Macedonia from US$4.50, Bosnia and Herzegovina from US$5.30, Kosovo from US$9.70. Add every country on your route to the plan finder and it compares the regional plans with a plan per country for you.

Countries to double check

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. Not on the Balkans plan or any Europe plan. Buy a Bosnia and Herzegovina eSIM or a Kosovo eSIM for that leg.
  • Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia. On the Balkans plan. No Europe plan covers Montenegro or Albania, and Serbia and North Macedonia are only on our dearer Europe lists (40+ areas). Country plans: Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, North Macedonia.
  • Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Romania. On every Europe plan we sell, and the first three are on the Balkans plan too. If your trip stays in these, a Europe plan costs far less than the Balkans plan, and a Croatia eSIM covers Croatia on its own.

Ferries and border day trips

  • Dubrovnik to Kotor. Croatia to Montenegro is a short drive, and no Europe plan follows you across. Near the border your phone may join the next country's network before you cross; on a Croatia or Europe plan your eSIM has no service in Montenegro until you switch to another line, so add a Montenegro plan or use the Balkans plan. Keep your home line's Data Roaming off to avoid your own carrier's roaming charges.
  • Corfu to Saranda, then Tirana and Ohrid. Greece is on every Europe plan; Albania and North Macedonia are not on our lowest priced Europe list. From the ferry onwards, this is Balkans plan or country plan territory, so sort it before you sail.
  • Split and Hvar. On island ferries, close to shore you stay on land networks. Further out there is no signal on any eSIM, so download maps and tickets before you sail.

If you lose signal after a border

  1. Wait a couple of minutes.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. In the eSIM line settings, turn off automatic network selection and choose the carrier listed for that country on our plan page.
  4. Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp or email [email protected] with the country and what your screen shows.

Our landing day checklist works the same at every border.

How much data for a Balkans trip?

Two weeks of Standard use (maps, social media, photos and video calls) is about 14GB. Our cost and data guide has the full table. If your trip carries on into the rest of Europe, our Europe eSIM guide explains the Europe plans, and for a long stay in Greece see our unlimited eSIM guide for Greece.

Questions travellers ask

Which countries does the RoamMore Balkans eSIM cover?

Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, Greece and North Macedonia. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Slovenia and Romania are not on it. We sell a separate country eSIM for each of those four, and Slovenia and Romania are also on every Europe plan we sell.

Is one Balkans eSIM cheaper than one eSIM per country?

No, not on our current prices. For the same total data, country plans cost less, and for Croatia, Greece and Bulgaria a Europe plan does too. The Balkans plan is the simpler choice on a route through several of Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia, because you install once and one data balance follows you across every border.

Does a Europe eSIM work in Montenegro or Albania?

No. None of our Europe plans covers Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina or Kosovo, and Serbia and North Macedonia are only on our dearer Europe lists. For Montenegro and Albania, use the Balkans plan or a country plan.

Do I need to do anything when I cross a border on the Balkans plan?

Usually nothing. Your phone joins a partner network in the new country within a few minutes. If it does not, restart your phone or pick the network by hand in your eSIM settings.

Ready for your trip?

Every eSIM comes with a real person on email and WhatsApp, and a full refund within 30 days if it is not installed yet.
