For most trips to Australia the best eSIM is a fixed data plan, and when we checked on 1 November 2026 RoamMore's 5GB and 10GB plans for 30 days cost less than the same plans from Airalo and Nomad. Our Endless plan at 1GB or 2GB a day also cost less than Holafly's unlimited plans for 10 and 15 days. If you use 3GB a day or more, Holafly is the better buy, and this page says why.

10GB for 30 days: RoamMore US$12.10, Airalo US$18, Nomad US$15. 5GB for 30 days: RoamMore US$7.80, Airalo US$11, Nomad US$10.

RoamMore wrote this page and sells eSIMs for Australia, so read it with that in mind. Every rival price below was read on the brand's own Australia page on 1 November 2026, in US dollars, and links back to that page. Our prices come from our live catalogue and change when it does. If you spot a mistake, email [email protected] and we will fix it.

How do the Australia eSIMs compare on price?

Fixed data plans

Brand5GB, 30 days10GB, 30 days
RoamMore with SPRING35US$7.80 US$5.07 with SPRING35US$12.10 US$7.86 with SPRING35
AiraloUS$11US$18
NomadUS$10US$15

All of these are data only. Holafly does not sell fixed data plans for Australia.

Unlimited plans

BrandUnlimited, 10 daysUnlimited, 15 daysFull speed a day on unlimited
RoamMore with SPRING35Endless: US$17.80 US$11.57 at 1GB a day, US$32 US$20.80 at 2GB with SPRING35US$25.60 US$16.64 at 1GB a day, US$47 US$30.55 at 2GB with SPRING35You choose. At 1GB to 3GB a day, then 1 Mbps
HolaflyUS$37.50US$51.50No daily amount stated

The fixed plans are like for like: the same amount of data for the same 30 days. The unlimited plans are not. Holafly states no daily amount, while Endless gives you a set amount at full speed each day, so compare the price at the daily amount you will really use, not the word unlimited.

Which network will you use in Australia, and is there 5G?

Our Australia plans run on Optus, with 5G where Optus has it and 4G everywhere else it reaches. Australia is big, and coverage thins out between towns and in the outback, so if your trip goes off the main roads, check the network's own map before you go. The Australia page lists every plan with its network and speed.

5G needs a phone that supports it. Where there is no 5G, the eSIM uses 4G.

How much data do you need for a week in Australia?

These are the daily amounts our plan finder uses. Not sure? Most people are Standard.

Your useA dayOne weekTwo weeks
Lite300MB2.1GB4.2GB
Standard1GB7GB14GB
Heavy2GB14GB28GB

So a 10GB plan covers a week of Standard use in Australia with room to spare, and a fortnight at that rate needs a bigger plan or a top up. Our cost and data guide breaks the figures down by app.

Should you get unlimited data or a fixed plan in Australia?

A fixed plan is usually the cheaper buy if you know roughly how much you use, because one allowance stretches across light days and busy ones. Unlimited is the simpler buy if you stream, make long video calls or would rather not watch a meter.

If you do want unlimited, compare plans at the same daily amount. For Australia:

  • At 1GB a day, Endless is US$17.80 for 10 days, less than Holafly's US$37.50, and US$25.60 for 15 days, less than Holafly's US$51.50.
  • At 2GB a day, Endless is US$32 for 10 days and US$47 for 15 days, both less than Holafly's plans of the same length.
  • At 3GB a day, Endless is US$63.20 for 10 days, more than Holafly's US$37.50, which states no daily amount, so Holafly is the better buy if you use that much.

Endless charges one price for the exact number of days you pick, so a 12 day trip is priced for 12 days, not the nearest pack. Our guide to what unlimited really means explains the daily amounts and the slower speeds after them.

When do the days start?

Our Australia plans start when the eSIM first connects to a network in Australia, so you can install it at home and it waits. The one exception is a 100MB trial, which starts when you install it, and the Australia page marks it. Endless also starts on first connection there, and its full speed amount refills every 24 hours from that moment.

Can you use an Australia eSIM as a hotspot?

On every RoamMore plan, yes: sharing your connection works. What you share counts toward the plan's data, and on the daily plans and Endless toward the day's full speed amount. If you plan to work from a laptop on another brand's plan, check its hotspot rules before you buy.

What should you do before you fly from New Zealand?

Install the eSIM at home on wifi a few days before you leave, and leave it switched off. When you land in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or wherever you arrive, switch it on, set it as your data line and turn on data roaming for it. Keep your New Zealand SIM on for calls and texts, with its own data roaming off, so your carrier does not charge you for data. Our landing day checklist walks through each step, and our guide to New Zealand roaming against a travel eSIM compares the cost with your carrier's roaming pack.

Our prices are in US dollars, so your bank converts the payment.

When is another brand the better choice?

  • You use 3GB a day or more. Holafly states no daily amount, and its plans cost less than Endless at 3GB a day.
  • You want minutes and texts on the eSIM. Ours are data only; check the other brands' Australia pages for plans that include them.

Choose RoamMore if you want a fixed plan at the lowest price we found, unlimited data at 1GB or 2GB a day for less than Holafly, no app to install, and a real person in New Zealand who answers by email or WhatsApp.

How did we check these prices?

We read every rival price on 1 November 2026 on the brand's own Australia page, in US dollars (Airalo with its own currency setting), with no codes, credits or memberships. We did not go through any checkout. Prices change, so each one links to the page it came from, and we check them again each month. Questions travellers ask

What is the best eSIM for Australia?

For most trips, a fixed data plan. On 1 November 2026, RoamMore's 5GB and 10GB plans for 30 days cost less than the same plans from Airalo and Nomad. Our Endless plan at 1GB or 2GB a day also cost less than Holafly's unlimited plans for 10 and 15 days; at 3GB a day or more, Holafly costs less. RoamMore wrote this answer, and every rival price on the page links to the store it came from.

Which network does an Australia eSIM use?

Ours use Optus, with 5G where Optus has it and 4G elsewhere. Each brand lists its own networks on its Australia page, so check them before you buy if you are heading somewhere remote.

Is 10GB enough for a week in Australia?

For most people, yes. At Standard use, about 1GB a day, a week comes to about 7GB, so a 10GB plan leaves room to spare. Two weeks at that rate needs more than 10GB, so pick a bigger plan or top up.

Can I keep my New Zealand number while I use an Australia eSIM?

Yes. The eSIM is a second line for data only, so your New Zealand SIM stays in the phone for calls, texts and bank codes. Turn off data roaming on your New Zealand SIM so your carrier does not charge you for data.

Ready for your trip?

Every eSIM comes with a real person on email and WhatsApp, and a full refund within 30 days if it is not installed yet.
