The RoamMore Australia eSIM runs on Optus, with 5G where Optus has it. Install it at home in New Zealand: an Australia plan only connects in Australia, so every plan except the 100MB trial starts counting days when you land, not before. A week in Australia at standard use (about 1GB a day) costs US$12.10 on the 10GB, 30 day plan, and two weeks US$19.50 on the 20GB, 30 day plan. Plans of 1GB or more start at US$3.60, and unlimited daily plans at US$3.10 a day, or one price for the whole trip on Endless, from US$9.60 for a week.

How much is an Australia eSIM for one or two weeks?
Coverage follows the coast and the population. Once you turn inland towards Uluru or the Kimberley, expect long gaps between towns with any signal at all. The cheapest plan here that covers each trip.

Travelling in Australia: what to know
Optus only
The eSIM uses Optus, with 5G where Optus has it. It does not switch to Telstra or any other network, so before a long drive inland, check Optus's own coverage map for the route.
Install at home, start in Australia
An Australia plan cannot connect in New Zealand, so you can install it on home wifi days ahead and lose nothing. The Australia and New Zealand plan is different: it works at home too, so it starts counting as soon as it connects in New Zealand.
Your New Zealand number
The eSIM is data only, with no Australian number and no ordinary calls or texts. Keep your New Zealand SIM switched on with its Data Roaming off, so texts such as bank codes can still reach you, and call home over WhatsApp or FaceTime.

Where your data exits
Australia plans exit to the internet in Singapore, so some Australian websites, streaming and banking apps may treat you as overseas. Maps, messaging and everyday browsing are unaffected.
Road trips and unlimited
A long drive with a passenger on your hotspot uses data quickly. Endless gives you a fresh block of full speed data every day for one trip price, and at 1GB a day it keeps going at 1 Mbps after the day's full speed data.
Australia eSIM FAQ
How much is an Australia eSIM for a week?
Standard use, about 1GB a day, costs US$12.10 on the 10GB, 30 day plan; light use (300MB a day) US$5.70 (3GB, 15 days) and heavy use (2GB a day) US$19.50 (20GB, 30 days).
How much is an Australia eSIM for two weeks?
Standard use, about 1GB a day, costs US$19.50 on the 20GB, 30 day plan; light use (300MB a day) US$7.80 (5GB, 30 days) and heavy use (2GB a day) US$38.20 (50GB, 30 days).
Does the Australia eSIM have 5G?
Yes: Optus runs 5G in Australia. 5G needs a 5G phone and a 5G signal where you are.
Which networks does the Australia eSIM use?
It connects to Optus (5G), our partner network in Australia.
Which regional eSIM also covers Australia?
Four regional eSIMs cover Australia as well: the Australia & New Zealand eSIM from US$6.10 (up to 2 countries), the Oceania eSIM from US$7.60 (up to 8 countries), the Asia eSIM from US$9.70 (up to 20 countries) and the Global eSIM from US$11.90 (up to 129 countries). Each covers several countries on one plan, handy if the trip also takes in New Zealand.
Can I share the Australia eSIM data by hotspot?
Yes, on the daily plans, from US$3.10 a day; hotspot use counts toward the same daily allowance.
When do the days start on the Australia eSIM?
On first connection in Australia, not at purchase or install. Install it on wifi before you fly, up to 180 days after buying. The 100MB (7 days) plan is an exception: its validity starts the moment you install it, not on first connection, so install it only when you are ready to start using the data.
Can I make calls with the Australia eSIM?
No, it is data only, with no Australia number: WhatsApp and FaceTime calls work over the data.
Where does the Australia eSIM connect to the internet from?
From Singapore, so apps may see you there rather than in Australia, which mostly matters to banking and streaming.
How much data do I need for a two week trip to Australia?
Most travellers land between 4GB and 14GB for a fortnight of maps, messaging and the occasional video. If you are tethering a laptop or streaming on long drives, an unlimited daily plan works out simpler than guessing.
What is the best eSIM for Australia from New Zealand?
One that installs at home and starts in Australia. The RoamMore Australia eSIM runs on Optus with 5G and cannot connect in New Zealand, so it only starts counting days once you land. For a week, 3GB or 10GB covers most travellers; for a road trip or heavy streaming, take a daily plan.
Does the Australia eSIM use Telstra or Optus?
Optus. It does not use Telstra or Vodafone, so if you are heading somewhere remote, check Optus's coverage map for the route before you go.
Do I get an Australian phone number?
No. The eSIM is data only: no Australian number, and no ordinary calls or texts. Calls work over the data through WhatsApp, FaceTime or Messenger, and your New Zealand number stays on your own SIM.
Will my New Zealand number still work in Australia?
Your number stays on your New Zealand SIM, which you keep in the phone. Whether calls and texts reach you there, and what they cost, depends on your New Zealand carrier's roaming. The eSIM only carries data.
Can I use the eSIM on an outback road trip?
In towns and along main highways, usually. Away from towns there are long stretches with no signal, so download offline maps and your bookings before you set off, and tell someone your route.
Heading somewhere else?
One eSIM can cover a whole region, handy for multi-country trips.
