Take the cheapest list that has every stop on your trip; each plan shows its countries under its table. The smallest, Asia (7 areas), covers 7 countries; the widest, Asia (20 areas), covers 20.

The eSIM simply has no signal there; there are no surprise charges. Add a single-country eSIM for that stop, or choose a wider plan that includes it.

On first connection in a covered country, not at purchase or install. Install it on wifi before you fly, up to 180 days after buying.

Yes, on the daily plans, from US$4 a day; hotspot use counts toward the same daily allowance.

No, it is data only, with no local number: WhatsApp and FaceTime calls work over the data, and your own SIM keeps your home number reachable.

From Hong Kong, Norway, Singapore or the United Kingdom, depending on the plan, so apps may see you there rather than where you are, which mostly matters to banking and streaming.

A regional Asia eSIM whose coverage list includes every stop, so you install once and keep the same eSIM across borders. Check Singapore and mainland China in particular, because not every Asia plan has them. For one country only, that country's own plan is usually cheaper.

Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, Bali included, are on every Asia plan on this page, and Japan is on most of them. Open the covered countries under a plan to see its full list.

Mainland China is on some Asia plans, not all, so check the coverage list before you buy. Hong Kong and Macao are listed separately from the mainland.

About 9GB if you mostly use maps and messaging, about 30GB with social media and video calls, and 60GB or more if you stream or hotspot a laptop. A 10GB plan valid 30 days suits light use; with social media and video calls take a 50GB plan or a daily plan.

No. The eSIM is data only: no local number in any country, and no ordinary calls or texts. Calls work over the data through WhatsApp, FaceTime or Messenger, and your home number stays on your own SIM.

Yes. Most Asia plans only connect in Asia, so nothing starts until you land. One Asia plan also covers Australia and New Zealand, so with that one, keep the eSIM line switched off after installing until you arrive.
