Bangkok to Chiang Mai, a ferry to the islands, then Hanoi, Hoi An and a week in Bali. A Southeast Asia trip crosses borders quickly, and nobody wants to install a new eSIM at every one.

What does one eSIM for Southeast Asia cost?

Our plans for 30 days, in US dollars:

Plan5GB10GB
South East AsiaUS$11.50US$20.20

Thailand onlyUS$7.80US$12.10

The South East Asia plan covers 8 countries. The Asia row is our lowest priced Asia list, which currently covers 14 countries: every South East Asia country except Timor-Leste, plus Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, but not Singapore. RoamMore wrote this page and sells these plans; every price comes from our live catalogue and changes when it does.

How a regional eSIM works in Southeast Asia

A regional eSIM is one eSIM with agreements across several countries. When you cross a border, your phone drops the last network and joins a partner network in the new country. There is nothing to buy at the border and no second QR code to scan.

The RoamMore South East Asia eSIM starts from US$4.20 (updated 30 Oct 2026). The exact list for each plan, with the network you will use in each country, is on our South East Asia eSIM page and our Asia eSIM page.

Live country prices for popular stops: Thailand from US$3.60, Vietnam from US$3.90, Indonesia from US$3.60, Malaysia from US$3.60, Philippines from US$3.90, Cambodia from US$4. Add every country on your route to the plan finder and it compares the regional plans with a plan per country for you.

Countries to double check

  • Singapore. Not on our South East Asia plan or our lowest priced Asia list. Some Asia plans include it, or buy a Singapore eSIM for that leg.
  • Timor-Leste. On our South East Asia plan, but not on our lowest priced Asia list.
  • Brunei. Not on these regional plans. We sell a separate Brunei eSIM.
  • Myanmar. We do not sell a plan for Myanmar.
  • Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Not on the South East Asia plan. If your trip adds one of them, an Asia plan covers both halves; our guide to Japan and South Korea on one trip explains the choice.

Islands, ferries and land borders

  • Islands. The main islands in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines have good coverage. Small islands and boat trips between them can have none, so download maps and tickets before you sail.
  • Land borders. Near the Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam borders your phone may join the next country's network before you cross. On a plan that covers both countries, this does not matter.
  • Ferries and longtail boats. Close to shore you stay on land networks. Further out there is no signal on any eSIM.

If you lose signal after a border

  1. Wait a couple of minutes.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. In the eSIM line settings, turn off automatic network selection and choose the carrier listed for that country on our plan page.
  4. Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp or email [email protected] with the country and what your screen shows.

Our landing day checklist works the same at every border.

How much data for a Southeast Asia trip?

Two weeks of Standard use (maps, social media, photos and video calls) is about 14GB. Our cost and data guide has the full table, and if you are working from a laptop for weeks at a time, our Asia eSIM guide for digital nomads covers long stays.

Questions travellers ask

Which countries does the RoamMore South East Asia eSIM cover?

Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia (Bali included), Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Timor-Leste. Singapore is not on it. Some of our Asia plans include Singapore, and the plan finder only offers plans that cover every stop you add.

Is one Southeast Asia eSIM cheaper than one eSIM per country?

Not always. For two countries, two country plans often cost the same or less for the same total data. From three countries, one regional plan is usually simpler, because you install once and one data balance follows you, so you never have to guess how to split your data between countries.

Do I need to do anything when I cross a border?

Usually nothing. Your phone joins a partner network in the new country within a few minutes. If it does not, restart your phone or pick the network by hand in your eSIM settings.

Is Bali covered?

Yes. Bali is part of Indonesia, which is on our South East Asia plan and on every Asia plan we sell.

Can I share data with a laptop or a travel partner?

Yes. Hotspot is allowed on every RoamMore plan, so you can share your data with a laptop or a second phone.

Ready for your trip?

Every eSIM comes with a real person on email and WhatsApp, and a full refund within 30 days if it is not installed yet.
