Round the world eSIM: one global plan or a plan for each leg?

Singapore on the way out, a month in Europe, then home through the USA. One eSIM for every region sounds like the obvious answer, but for most trips it is not the cheapest one.

What does a global eSIM cost?

Our plans for 30 days, in US dollars:

Plan5GB10GB
GlobalUS$42.30US$78
EuropeUS$7.90US$14.10
AsiaUS$10.90US$18.20
USA onlyUS$9.10US$14.90

We sell two global lists, one of more than 120 areas and one of more than 130, and the table shows the lower price of the two for each size. Between them they cover most of Europe and much of Asia, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, but not every country. RoamMore wrote this page and sells these plans; every price comes from our live catalogue and changes when it does.

How a global eSIM works

A global eSIM is one eSIM with agreements in more than 120 countries. When you land somewhere new, your phone joins a partner network there, with nothing to buy at the airport and no second QR code to scan, and one data balance follows you from leg to leg.

The RoamMore global eSIM starts from US$11.90 (updated 30 Oct 2026). The exact list for each plan, with the network you will use in each country, is on our global eSIM page, and the plan finder only offers a list that covers every stop you add.

One global plan or one per leg?

Your tripBest fitWhy
Two or three long legs, such as Asia, Europe and the USAA plan per legFar cheaper for the same data
Many short stops in different regions inside 30 daysGlobal planOne install, one balance, no switching
Longer than 30 daysA plan per legThe global plan ends after 30 days anyway
One main region with a short stop elsewhereA plan for the main region, plus one for the stopUsually far cheaper than global; see our stopover guide

The gap is large. With 5GB in Europe and 5GB in Asia, two regional plans cost US$7.90 plus US$10.90, against US$78 for the same 10GB on one global plan. Even three 10GB plans, one each for Europe, Asia and the USA, cost less than one 10GB global plan. What the global plan buys is one install, one balance and no switching on a day you fly between regions.

Other legs: South East Asia from US$4.20, North America from US$6.20, South America from US$7.70, Oceania from US$7.60, Japan from US$3.60, Thailand from US$3.60. Our guides to several countries in Europe and to long stays in Asia explain the regional plans for those legs.

Countries to double check

  • Vietnam and Cambodia. Only on our larger global list, which costs more. Add them to the plan finder, which picks that list, or compare a regional plan for that leg.
  • Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. On neither global list. Our Pacific Islands guide covers them.
  • The Maldives, Nepal and Laos. On neither global list either. Add them to the plan finder to see what covers them.
  • The Caribbean. Puerto Rico is on both global lists, and Guadeloupe and Martinique on the larger one, but most Caribbean islands are on neither.
  • Smaller countries. Not every country is on a global list. Check the list on our global eSIM page for every stop before you buy.

Install the next leg before you fly

The global plan lasts 30 days at most, so a trip longer than a month needs more than one plan anyway. Most of our plans start when you first connect, not when you install them, so you can install the next leg's eSIM before you fly and switch to it when you land. A few plans start on install; each plan page says which. For a day or two in a hub city between legs, our stopover guide covers whether you need a plan at all.

If you lose signal after landing

  1. Wait a couple of minutes.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. In the eSIM line settings, turn off automatic network selection and choose the carrier listed for that country on our plan page.
  4. Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp or email [email protected] with the country and what your screen shows.

Our landing day checklist works the same in every country.

How much data for a round the world trip?

Two weeks of Standard use (maps, social media, photos and video calls) is about 14GB, and the largest global plan is 20GB for 30 days. Our guide to how much data travellers use has real figures, and our cost and data guide has the full table.

Questions travellers ask

Is a global eSIM cheaper than one eSIM per leg?

Rarely. For the same data, a regional or country plan for each leg usually costs far less than one global plan. The global plan's advantages are one install, one balance and no switching between regions.

Which countries does the RoamMore global eSIM cover?

We sell two global lists, one with more than 120 areas and one with more than 130, covering most of Europe, much of Asia, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. Vietnam and Cambodia are only on the larger list, and Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu are on neither, so check the list for every stop.

How long does a global eSIM last?

Our global plans last 30 days at most. On a longer trip, buy a plan for each leg instead, since you would need a new plan after 30 days anyway.

Can I install the next leg's eSIM before I fly?

Yes, for most of our plans. They start when you first connect, not when you install them, so the days do not run while the eSIM waits. A few plans start on install, and their plan page says so.

Ready for your trip?

Every eSIM comes with a real person on email and WhatsApp, and a full refund within 30 days if it is not installed yet.
