How much is an India eSIM for one or two weeks?
Indian mobile data is fast and everywhere in the cities. It is the arrival gap, waiting on a local SIM to activate, that leaves travellers stranded. The cheapest plan that covers each trip: one of these, or a regional plan that covers it where that costs less or none here is big enough.

India eSIM FAQ
How much is an India eSIM for a week?
Standard use, about 1GB a day, costs US$18.20 on the 10GB, 30 day India (Asia) plan; light use (300MB a day) US$7.40 (India (Asia): 3GB, 15 days) and heavy use (2GB a day) US$35.30 (India (Asia): 20GB, 30 days).
How much is an India eSIM for two weeks?
Standard use, about 1GB a day, costs US$35.30 on the 20GB, 30 day India (Asia) plan; light use (300MB a day) US$10.90 (India (Asia): 5GB, 30 days) and heavy use (2GB a day) US$74.60 (Endless, 2GB a day).
Does the India eSIM have 5G?
Yes: AirTel runs 5G in India. 5G needs a 5G phone and a 5G signal where you are.
Which networks does the India eSIM use?
It connects to AirTel (5G), our partner network in India.
Which regional eSIM also covers India?
Three regional eSIMs cover India as well: the South Asia eSIM from US$5.60 (up to 6 countries), the Asia eSIM from US$4.10 (up to 20 countries) and the Global eSIM from US$11.90 (up to 129 countries). Each covers several countries on one plan, handy if the trip also takes in Pakistan or Sri Lanka.
Can I share the India eSIM data by hotspot?
Yes, on the daily plans, from US$3.60 a day; hotspot use counts toward the same daily allowance.
When do the days start on the India eSIM?
On first connection in India, not at purchase or install. Install it on wifi before you fly, up to 180 days after buying. The 100MB (7 days) plan is an exception: its validity starts the moment you install it, not on first connection, so install it only when you are ready to start using the data.
Can I make calls with the India eSIM?
No, it is data only, with no India number: WhatsApp and FaceTime calls work over the data.
Where does the India eSIM connect to the internet from?
From Singapore, so apps may see you there rather than in India, which mostly matters to banking and streaming.
How long does a local Indian SIM take to activate compared to an eSIM?
A tourist SIM commonly takes several hours to a day and needs your passport, visa and a local address. The eSIM is active on arrival because it roams rather than registering you as a local subscriber.
Heading somewhere else?
One eSIM can cover a whole region, handy for multi-country trips.
