Island hopping in the Caribbean: one eSIM or one per island?

Jamaica, a hop to the Cayman Islands, then a week between Saint Lucia and Barbados. By plane, ferry or cruise ship, a Caribbean trip lands in a new country at almost every stop, and nobody wants a new eSIM on every island.
What does one eSIM for the Caribbean cost?
Our plans for 30 days, in US dollars:
| Plan | 5GB | 10GB |
|---|---|---|
| Caribbean | US$56.20 | US$92.30 |
| Jamaica only | US$51.20 | US$94.30 |
| Barbados only | US$52.10 | US$93.40 |
| Cayman Islands only | US$58.20 | US$104.50 |
| Saint Lucia only | US$62.80 | US$113.30 |
| Dominican Rep. only | US$19.90 | US$34.70 |
The Caribbean list covers 25 areas: 17 in the Caribbean, from Jamaica and Puerto Rico to Saint Lucia and Grenada, plus French Guiana, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay in South America. It does not cover the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Haiti, Martinique, the US Virgin Islands, Sint Maarten or Mexico's Caribbean coast. RoamMore wrote this page and sells these plans; every price comes from our live catalogue and changes when it does.
How a regional eSIM works in the Caribbean
A regional eSIM is one eSIM with agreements across several countries. When you land on a new island, your phone drops the last network and joins a partner network there. There is nothing to buy at the airport or the cruise pier and no second QR code to scan.
The RoamMore Caribbean eSIM starts from US$13.40 (updated 30 Oct 2026). On most islands it uses FLOW's 4G network; in Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Puerto Rico it has 5G. The full list, with the network in each country, is on our Caribbean eSIM page.
One regional plan or one per country?
| Your trip | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One island on the list | Compare the island plan with the Caribbean plan | Most island plans cost about the same as the regional plan |
| Two or more islands on the list | Caribbean plan | Two island plans usually cost more for the same data |
| The Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico alone | Country plan | Far cheaper than the regional plan |
| The Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico plus one more island | Compare a plan per island with the Caribbean plan | Their own plans cost so little that two country plans can come out lower |
| A cruise calling at several islands on the list | Caribbean plan | One install covers every port on the list |
Live island prices: Jamaica from US$12.70, Barbados from US$12.80, Turks and Caicos from US$12, the Dominican Republic from US$5.90. Our Puerto Rico eSIM is US$18.10 for 5GB, against US$56.20 on the Caribbean plan. Add every island on your route to the plan finder and it compares the regional plan with a plan per island for you.
Islands to double check
- The Bahamas. Not on our Caribbean list, which matters for cruises calling at Nassau. We sell a separate Bahamas eSIM.
- Mexico's Caribbean coast. Cancun and Cozumel are in Mexico, which is not on the list. Buy a Mexico eSIM for that leg.
- The US Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten. Not on the list, and we do not sell a plan for either, so a stop at St Thomas or Philipsburg is not covered.
- Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba and Curacao. Trinidad and Tobago is not on the list, and Aruba and Curacao are not named on it (it names the Netherlands Antilles). We sell a Trinidad and Tobago eSIM, an Aruba eSIM and a Curacao eSIM.
- Cuba, Haiti and Martinique. Not on the Caribbean list. Add them to the plan finder to see what covers them.
Cruises and cruise ports
At sea, cruise ships switch to their own satellite networks, which travel eSIMs do not cover, so turn off Data Roaming on your home line before you board. In port, your eSIM works if that island is on your plan. Nassau, Cozumel, St Thomas and Philipsburg are not on our list, so check your itinerary before you buy and add every port of call to the plan finder. Our cruise guide covers sea days and what to switch off.
If you lose signal on a new island
- Wait a couple of minutes.
- Restart your phone.
- In the eSIM line settings, turn off automatic network selection and choose the carrier listed for that country on our plan page.
- Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp or email [email protected] with the country and what your screen shows.
Our landing day checklist works the same on every island.
How much data for a Caribbean trip?
Two weeks of Standard use (maps, social media, photos and video calls) is about 14GB. The Caribbean plan has no 20GB size, so heavier users should look at its daily plans. Our cost and data guide has the full table.

Questions travellers ask
Which islands does the RoamMore Caribbean eSIM cover?
Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Montserrat, the Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The same list also covers French Guiana, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
Is one Caribbean eSIM cheaper than one eSIM per island?
For two or more islands on the list, usually yes, because most single island plans cost about as much as the whole Caribbean plan. The exceptions are the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, whose own plans cost far less, so for a stay on one of those, buy the country plan.
Does it work in the Bahamas or at Cozumel?
No. The Bahamas and Mexico are not on our Caribbean list, and we sell separate Bahamas and Mexico eSIMs. The US Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten are not on the list either, and we do not sell a plan for them.
Will it work on a Caribbean cruise?
In port, yes, on islands that are on the list. At sea, ships switch to their own satellite networks, which travel eSIMs do not cover, so turn off Data Roaming on your home line before you board.
