Travelling in Fiji: what to know
One network, 4G
The eSIM uses Vodafone in Fiji, on 4G. That is enough for maps, messaging, video calls and social media. There is no second network to fall back on, so download maps before you head somewhere remote.
Outer islands and boat transfers
Signal is patchier on the outer islands and on boat transfers than in the main towns, and resort wifi can be slow too. Download bookings and maps before a transfer, and ask your resort what signal to expect.
Data only, no Fijian number
There is no Fijian number on the eSIM and no ordinary calls or texts. Call home over WhatsApp or FaceTime, and keep your home SIM switched on with its Data Roaming off so texts such as bank codes still arrive.
