A quick note on wording
Phone menus use different words depending on your region. The screens are the same, only the labels change.
Before you start
Check your phone supports eSIM
Open the dialer and type *#06#. If an EID number appears, you are good to go. No EID means your phone cannot use an eSIM.
Connect to wifi
Always install and activate while on a stable wifi connection.
Unlock your phone
Your device must be carrier unlocked.
Keep your QR code safe
Each code works once and on one device only.
Install the eSIM
This step is the same on iPhone and Android. Pick one of the two ways below.
Scan the QR code
Open your camera or eSIM installer and scan the QR code from your RoamMore confirmation.
Use the setup link
Open the setup link from your confirmation, then tap Apple for iPhone or Android for an Android phone. This installs the eSIM straight away, with no scanning.
Finish setup on your phone
From here the menus differ. Pick your device.
Install the eSIM
Use the QR code or setup link from step two. Tap Continue or Add eSIM when asked, then follow the prompts.
Name your plan
Optional, for example RoamMore Travel.
Choose your eSIM for data
Go to Settings then Mobile Service (or Cellular) then Mobile Data (or Cellular Data), and select your RoamMore eSIM.
Turn on Data Roaming
Go to Settings then Mobile Service (or Cellular), tap your RoamMore eSIM, and switch Data Roaming on. This just lets your travel eSIM connect to local networks. It does not charge your home plan.
Avoid extra charges
Keep Allow Mobile Data Switching (or Allow Cellular Data Switching) turned off so your phone does not slip back to your home line.
Airplane Mode is fine
If it is on, your eSIM is set as the default automatically once you switch Airplane Mode off.
Done
You will see Activation successful once the eSIM is ready. Enjoy your trip.
Menu names vary a little by brand. Samsung paths are in brackets.
Connect to wifi
Stay on it until the download finishes.
Open your SIM settings
Settings then Network & Internet then SIMs. On Samsung: Settings then Connections then SIM manager.
Add the eSIM
Tap Add eSIM or Download a SIM instead.
Scan or enter the details
Scan the QR code, or enter the details manually using your setup link, then follow the prompts to download.
Turn the eSIM on
Once it downloads, switch it on.
Set it as the mobile data SIM
Select your RoamMore eSIM for Mobile data.
Turn on Roaming
Settings then Network & Internet then SIMs, then your eSIM, then Roaming on.
Avoid home charges
Turn off automatic data switching, and keep your home SIM data off while you travel.
If something goes wrong
When does my plan start? Does the countdown begin when I buy it?
Your plan's days start when you first connect at your destination, not when you buy or install it. Until then the eSIM stays valid for 180 days from the date of purchase, so you can set it up before you travel.
No EID number when I dial *#06#
Your phone does not support eSIM, so a travel eSIM will not work on it.
The setup link or QR will not work on my Android phone
Some Android phones block the install until they can reach Google. Make sure you are on wifi, then try the setup link again or enter the details manually. A few models, such as certain Honor handsets, do not support third-party eSIM installs at all. If yours is one, contact us for a refund.
The eSIM will not install
Make sure you are on wifi, and check the QR code has not already been used on another device. Each code works once only.
No signal after activation
Give it a few minutes, as the network connection can take time. Then try switching Airplane Mode on and off, or restart your phone. Do not delete the eSIM while you wait.
I have arrived but there is no data (No usable data found)
This usually means the eSIM has not finished installing, or it is not set for data yet. While on wifi, reinstall from your setup link, turn Data Roaming on for your RoamMore eSIM, and turn your home SIM line off. You also need to be in your destination country for it to connect.
Connected but no data, or very slow data
Check that the RoamMore eSIM is selected for Mobile Data, and that Data Roaming is switched on for that eSIM.
Why is my data slow?
Speed depends on the local network and how busy it is, and we cannot guarantee a set speed. Try switching Airplane Mode on and off, or select a different local network manually in your phone's settings.
Which eSIM in my list is the RoamMore one?
In your phone's SIM list, plans appear in the order they were installed, so the newest entry is the RoamMore eSIM you just added. Naming it something like RoamMore Japan when you install makes it easy to pick for data.
Worried about bill shock from your home plan
Keep Allow Mobile Data Switching off, and turn your home SIM data off while travelling. Your home plan stays untouched.
I accidentally deleted my eSIM. Can I get it back?
Each eSIM is unique. A deleted eSIM can only be replaced if no data has been used yet. If data has already been used, a new purchase is needed, so please do not delete your eSIM while you are travelling. If no data has been used, request a replacement at shop.roammore.co/reissue.
Could not activate eSIM error
Move to a stronger wifi connection and try again. If it still fails, contact RoamMore support before reinstalling, as you may need a fresh QR code.
Can I get a receipt or tax invoice?
After you buy, Stripe emails you a receipt from an address ending in @stripe.com, with the subject Your Roam More receipt. If you cannot find it or need another copy, just email us and we will help.
